![]() | only lovers left aliveMovie Review If you are fascinated by the world of vampires, this extraordinary dark film is an essential viewing. The film tells the immortal love story between Adam and Eve, masterfully played by Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton. Their afterlife is immersed in a decadent and melancholic atmosphere, where the beauty of art and knowledge clashes with the decadence of contemporary society. With a refined gothic aesthetic and a touch of biting irony, the film is configured as a poetic reflection on the crisis of modern humanity, incapable of preserving the wonders that it has been able to create over the centuries. The slow regression... Read More |
![]() | The Last Man on EarthMovie Review The film, based on the famous novel by Richard Matheson I Am Legend, manages to recreate the atmosphere of the book well, despite the limited budget. The Italian director Ubaldo Ragona does a better job than the more famous Boris Sagal, who made The Omega Man a few years later. This is probably due to the fact that Vincent Price, very comfortable in an Italian co-production, surpasses the talented Charlton Heston. With his usual theatricality, Price offers a performance reminiscent of silent films, particularly effective in the part where he is alone, for half the film. The first part is very suggestive, thanks to the beautiful... Read More |
![]() | The wellMovie Review The twilight settings and the acting performances even of the minor roles are very appreciable, some scenes in the finale give a touch perhaps unintentionally funny that I personally appreciate a lot in horror films. A simple but well-crafted story, with realistic dialogues, the long gore scenes in the film could disturb those like me who do not appreciate them but prefer dark atmospheres and mystery, which are not lacking anyway. A low-budget production that does not disappoint but rather transports us to the past of an Italian genre cinema that is now almost defunct. |
![]() | VampiresMovie Review Jack Crow is much more than a vampire hunter. He is a war machine that considers vampires as the embodiment of Evil and teammates as soldiers to be strictly trained so that they never fail. The Vatican monitors him from afar, assists him through specially trained priests, and supports him economically. This unlikely but functional partnership between this sort of crepuscular cow boy and one of the most important religious institutions in the world undergoes a stop when the ancient and powerful Valek breaks into the room where a vampire hunting party is celebrating, making a killing. Jack Crow's collaborators all die... Read More |
![]() | TOP 10 HORROR MOVIES about dogsHorror News The Beyond (1981) The Beyond is a camp, OTT and downright outrageous Fulci zombie ‘epic’ which features a blind girl called Emily (who’s from ‘the beyond’ as far as I could work out) and her trusty Alsatian guide dog - Dickie. Dickie has a low-key role until one point in the film when some fantastic looking zombies confront Emily. They moan and groan as Emily shouts gibberish like “I did what I was asked!” and “I’m not going to go back! You can’t make me go back!” until she sets Dickie on them. Dickie wastes no time in making a star of himself in this, his key scene as he attacks the crumbly undead... Read More |
