REVIEW: 

Based on the novel of the same name by Jean Redon, this little gem that lasts just over an hour is a fundamental film for the development of modern horror, among all it has inspired John Carpenter's "halloween". The film is poetic but also damn cruel in its elegant black and white, the scene of the surgical operation anticipates today's extreme cinema by a long way, in fact the critics of the time called it vile and gruesome... But the film is above all a horror with strong psychological elements. At the center of the story are the sense of guilt, an unhealthy gratitude and the disturbing sensation of no longer recognizing oneself in the mirror, as if the future and freedom had vanished.
Although the plot may seem linear, the film completely captures the viewer thanks to an extraordinary staging. Every detail, from the direction to the photography, from the soundtrack to the acting, contributes to creating an immersive and engaging experience, transforming a seemingly simple narrative into something powerful and memorable.

The Exorcism - Last Act

Russell Crowe is becoming a darling of horror cinema and after the success of "The Pope's Exorcist" he returns in a cassock, but this time it is a fiction, in fact in the film Crowe plays himself... an actor in both physical and mental decline. The film is worth little but thanks to the good Russell we have fun... Especially watching him go from a depressed mood bordering on suicide to a diabolical and ruthless one of possessed, always very fascinating and effective. Beautiful photography.

What should have been an exclusive dinner turns into carnage under the crazy direction of a great, funny and at the same time glacial Ralph Fiennes. The tension is growing and the twists follow one another repeatedly. Surprising until the last scene. All the actors are excellent. A must see.

Another low-budget production by Blumhouse designed not for what we all expected, that is, a middle-aged audience nostalgic for the TV series, but instead, as usual, for kids. A youthful soft horror that badly mixes various genres, thriller, melodrama, comedy, blending everything together... The result is a dull and idealess film, with an anonymous cast. In short, extremely boring.

The Dead Don't Die

Jim Jarmusch, after the vampire love story "Only Lovers Left Alive" returns to horror contaminations, with a star-studded cast that includes the inevitable Tilda Swinton, but that does not reach the same level of quality.  An authorial tribute to the films, now true cults, by George A.
